Richard Sarafian
Director and actor; crafted the immortal cult film "Vanishing Point" -- via the L.A. Times. Did tons of TV, including the very scary "Living Doll" episode of "The Twilight Zone":

But really triumphed with the head-scratching symbolism and weirdness of both "Vanishing Point," in which speed-freak Barry Newman as Kowalski bets his dealer that he can drive a '70 Dodge Cahllenger from Denver to L.A. in 15 hours. On the way, guided by blind deejay Little Super Soul (Cleavon Little), he meets religious freaks, weirdo hitchhikers, a naked lad on a motorcycle, and much more.
Not to mention the extremely stilted religious allegory "Man in the Wilderness" (pardon the Spanish overdub):
What a nut! I love him.
